A Peek at My Dining Chair Makeover and a Vintage Ballet Dress

it was love at first sight... this vintage ballet dress was found at Round Top Texas by a dear friend who is an antique dealer.
The ballet dress will be beautiful on a mannequin in my sewing room as soon as i can find it one.
For now she is posing on one of my dinning room chairs.
When my chairs finally dried i brought one inside to see what it looked like at the table.

Here is a before picture..

They still need a lot of work.... reupholstering, sanding and waxing but the transformation with a little paint made a huge difference.
i bought these beauties off craigslist for $10 a piece.

i can't wait to see what they look like completely finished!

until next time,

xo

  1. Hi Cheryl!

Oh your ballet dress is divine! It brings me visions of Swan Lake. I am a huge fan of classical ballet! I rent ballets all the time from Netflix; they are just comfort soup to me to watch & listen to. You have done an excellent job on your new to you chair! What a great deal! I love the detail on the top of the chair. You have styled one gorgeous photo with the dress on the chair. I am loving your blog & love when you post to it.. I like everything you share with us!

    Take Care,
    Lara

  9. me too - can't wait to see them finished - this little sideways peek has gotten me so curious now. I've always loved pretty cane back chairs. And just how precious is that dancer's costume? What an awesome find! I didn't make it to Round Top this past spring and am totally looking forward to the autumn market there. Take care :)

  17. I agree with an earlier comment, the chair looks like it's wearing point shoes/toe shoes/slippers?, sorry not a dancer. Either way, your DR is beautiful so far, with the door and the runner, yum. Looking forward to seeing the finished chairs.
